Hello friends and family :)

Welcome to my blog for this summer! I'm happy that you have found your way here and I hope that what I write this summer will inspire, challenge and keep you in the know of whats going on with my internship at Urban Promise! I'm stoked to embark on this adventure this summer! My hope is to write on my blog once a week!

Below is a letter I have written in response to what I will be doing in Vancouver! :
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As many of you know this upcoming September I am attending my final year at Briercrest College & Seminary and I will be graduating with a BA in Psychology.

Today I’m writing to you to tell you about an exciting opportunity that has come up, which I consider to work hand in hand with my studies and long term vision. This summer I have the privilege to be an intern for nine-weeks in an intense summer program with Urban Promise in Vancouver, British Columbia from June 21st to August 17th. Urban Promise is an organization that “empowers children, youth and young adults to experience belonging and success.” As an intern I will be assisting the site directors with Summer Day Camps for children who are in under-resourced neighborhoods and will also have the chance to mentor local youth. My role will be youth ministry intern at Camp Peace/Grace in Vancouver. In this role I'll be leading a variety of activities such as crafts, Bible studies, games and day trips. It’s going to be a blast! I am so happy to be spending time out west and even more excited for all the different friendships and opportunities I will have to be God's love to others.

Would you consider partnering with me in prayer as I go to Vancouver to serve this summer and gain experience in a field that I could see myself settling in long-term?  This internship is also not a paid position. If you have the capacity to share financially I am able to provide tax receipts.

Thanks for your time!

Some prayer requests:
* That I would be teachable in my internship
* I would be used in radical ways to tell others abouts Jesus and set a good example in the way I live out my life daily in speech and action.

I really love this quote below and it signifies what I want my life to be. My desire is for the work I'll be doing with children and youth this summer for Christ to be seen in ALL!

“Not I but Christ be honored,
Love, exalted;
Not I but Christ be seen, be known, be heard;
Not I but Christ in every look and action;
Not I but Christ in every thought and word”
-Whiddington
